Obituary of Jack Wayman Hixenbaugh

Smethport - Jack Wayman Hixenbaugh, 78, of Smethport, passed away Wednesday (June 27, 2018) at his residence, surrounded by his loving family.

 

He was born Sept. 8, 1939 in Hundred, WV, a son of Floyd K. and Lula J. Himelrick Hixenbaugh.  On May 14, 2013, in Bradford, PA, he married Geraldine “Gerry” Joyce Frantz, who died April 15, 2016.

 

Mr. Hixenbaugh was a graduate of Smethport Area High School and was employed by Costa's Supermarket of Smethport as store manager for 33 years.

 

He was a member of the American Legion; John Berg Post #976 of Crosby, the American Legion; Bucktail Post #138 of Smethport, and the Fraternal Order of Eagles of Bradford.

 

He is survived by:

four daughters: Deb (Dale) Yohe and Linda (Stephen) Frederick, both of Bradford,  Jackie (Roger) Ellison of TN and Lori (Daniel) Lindquist of Chambersburg, PA

one son: Steven (Laura) Hixenbaugh of Lewis Run

two stepdaughters: Jill (Tim) Keller of Bradford and Stacy (Brian) Tanner of Smethport

19 Grandchildren, 3 step grandchildren and 26 Great Grandchildren

two brothers: William Hixenbaugh of Columbia, SC and Richard Hixenbaugh of Smethport

and several nieces and nephews.

 

In addition to his parents and wife, Jack was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Cynthia Hixenbaugh.

 

Visitation will be held on Saturday from 10 A.M. to Noon at Hartle-Tarbox Funeral Homes, Inc., 2 Bank St., Smethport, PA, where funeral services will begin at noon, with the Rev. Max Simms, pastor of the Hilltop Baptist Church, officiating.  Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery, Smethport.  A luncheon gathering will be held immediately following services at the Norwich Twp. Fire Hall of Crosby.
