Obituary of Kenneth E. Cogan

Crosby - Kenneth E. Cogan, 83, of Crosby, died Sunday (February 18, 2018) in the Lakeview Senior Care & Living Center, Smethport. He was born Aug 7, 1934 in Latrobe, a son of Edgar and Marie Graham Cogan. On Sept. 4, 1971, in Smethport, he married Jane L. Silfies, who survives. Mr. Cogan was a graduate of Latrobe High School. He served in the U.S. Army, attaining the rank of Sgt. First Class. Ken had worked at Westinghouse of Blairsville, PA and then went to work for Quaker State in Farmers Valley, retiring when it was Petrowax. Ken was a founding member and was also on the planning committee of the North Central Forest Landowners. He had a lifetime membership with the group. He was a life member of the NRA as well. He was a member of the North American Hunting Club, Unified Sportsmen of PA, the American Legion; John Berg Post #976 of Crosby, and the Crosby United Methodist Church. In addition to his wife, he is survived by: Sons: Kenneth (Michelle) Cogan and Gregg (Rita) Cogan, both of Latrobe Daughters: Denise (Haile) Blackman of Pasadena, CA, Debra (John) Walker of Hazel Hurst, PA, Deanna Cogan of Sierra Madre, CA, and Amy (Dr. Mark) Shelley of Port Allegany. Stepchildren: Karen (Jeff) Borneman of Souderton, PA, Laurie Dufford of Bradford, and Christina (David) Platko of Charlotte, NC Nine grandchildren and one great-grandchild One brother: Robert (Delores) Cogan of Bellwood, PA Ken was preceded in death by his parents. Services will be held privately with the family. Burial will be in the Clermont Cemetery, Clermont. Memorials, if desired, may be made to the Norwich Twp.
