Obituary of Gardenia Mae Young

Smethport - Gardenia Mae “Dee” Young, 70, of Smethport, died Friday (January 15, 2016) in the Cole Memorial Hospital, Coudersport, after a lengthy illness. She was born Sept. 8, 1945 in Bradford, a daughter of Earl Eugene and Ida Mae Bailey Elderkin. On March 19, 1977 in Bradford, PA, she married George W. Young, who died Oct. 22, 2009. Mrs. Young attended Bradford schools and was a homemaker, tending to the needs of her family. She is survived by: One daughter: Charlene (Alton, Jr.) Nofsker of Shinglehouse Two sons: Bruce Heffner of Smethport and Brian Heffner of Albion, NY Three granddaughters, two grandsons, a grandson in law One sister: Rosetta Lee Cramer of Sheffield, PA, and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two sons, Roger Lynn Heffner and Bradley James Heffner, and a sister in law, Della Johnson. There will be no visitation. A memorial service will be held on Monday, January 18, 2016, at 2 PM, in Gardenia’s home in Smethport. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery, Smethport.
