Obituary of Leona M. Coon

Smethport - Leona M. “Chub” Coon, 83, of Smethport, died Sunday (March 17, 2013) in the Bradford Regional Medical Center, Bradford. She was born May 29, 1929 in East Smethport, a daughter of Raymond and Jesse Henderickson Gifford. On September 6, 1951, in Turtlepoint, PA, she married Richard W. Coon, who died July 30, 1999. Mrs. Coon attended Smethport area schools and was a housewife tending to the needs of her family. She was a member of the East Smethport United Christian Church. She is survived by two sons: Randy (Tammy) Coon of Gifford and Ricky (Beverly) Coon of Smethport Grandchildren: Nicole Himes, Amanda Himes, Heather Coon, Randy Coon, Jr., Michelle Ries, Mike Thielges, Amanda Thielges, and Heather Coon, and several great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one brother and two sisters. There will be no visitation. Memorial services will be held at a later date and time to be announced.
