Obituary of Herbert A. Smith
Smethport - Herbert A. Smith, 83, of Smethport, finished his earthly journey, Tuesday (March 24, 2015), at his home in Smethport, surrounded by his family, and is in the presence of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
He was born March 22, 1932 in Keating Summit, a son of Clarence A. and Lula Glace Smith. On March 9, 1957, in Farmers Valley, PA, he married Marguerite "Peg" E. Miller, who survives.
Mr. Smith served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict.
He worked at Interstate Amesite Corp. for 33 years before retiring.
He was a member of the NRA, the Free Christian Evangelical Church of Smethport, had been an ambulance driver for the former Smethport Ambulance Service and was an avid NASCAR fan.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by:
one son: James L. (Diane) Smith of Eldred
one daughter: Naomi S. (Donald) Raught of Smethport
6 grandsons, 4 granddaughters, 2 great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by 3 sisters.
At Mr. Smith's request, there will be no visitation. Memorial services will be held on April 4th at 11 A.M. in the Free Christian Evangelical Church, Pine St., Smethport, PA.
