Obituary of Florence E. Acker-German

Smethport - Florence E. “Flossie” Acker-German, 95, of Smethport, died Wednesday (October 15, 2014) in the Lakeview Senior Care & Living Ctr., Smethport. She was born April 19, 1919 in Ridgway, a daughter of Jack and Lena Fisher Bailey. In 1941, she married Albert Acker, who died in Oct. 1984. She then married Ronald T. German on Sept.30, 1989. He died January 4, 2004. Flossie attended Kane High School and had enjoyed working as a florist for many years. She and her husband, Albert Acker, owned Acker’s Greenhouse in Smethport. In later years, she enjoyed fly tying with her second husband, Ron German. She was a member of St. Luke's Episcopal Church, Smethport and the Order of the Eastern Star, Phoenix Chapter #15 of Smethport. She is survived by: three sons: James (Carla) Acker of Smethport, PA, Ronald (Bibi) Kane of FL, and Joseph (Sheryl) Acker of Phoenix, AZ 4 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren In addition to her parents and husbands, she was preceded in death by one sister, Frances Andrews. There will be no visitation. A memorial service will be held Tuesday, October 21 at 11:00 am from the Hartle-Tarbox Funeral Homes, Inc., 2 Bank St., Smethport, with the Rev. Max Simms, pastor of the Hilltop Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will be in the Rose Hill Cemetery, Smethport. A luncheon will be prepared immediately following services at the Courtyard Restaurant, Main St., in Smethport. Memorials, if desired, may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
