Obituary of Laverne C. Freer

Smethport - Laverne C. Freer, 88, of Smethport, PA, died peacefully, Tuesday (January 8, 2013) in the Sena Kean Manor, Smethport, surrounded by her loving family. She was born Feb 7, 1924 in Chicora, PA, a daughter of Ralph and Josephine Graham Rodgers. On June 24, 1946, in St. Elizabeth Church, Smethport, she married Charles H. Freer, who died August 13, 2012. Mrs. Freer was a graduate of Otto Eldred High School and worked at the Smethport Elementary School in the Cafeteria. She was a member of St. Elizabeth of Hungary Church, Smethport, St. Elizabeth Women, and she enjoyed cooking and her family. She is survived by six daughters: Evelyn "Susie" Wilson of Rochester, NY, Marcia (Steven) Jordan of Smethport, PA Marilyn (Rick) Greene of Portville, NY, Rena (Bill) Reigel of Emporium, PA, Mary (Mark) Hall of Hillsborough, NC, and Nancy Freer of Norwich, NY four sons: James (Sharon) Freer of Lynnwood, WA, William (Betty) Freer of St. Marys, PA, Bernard (Jane) Freer of Smethport, PA, and Larry (Marilyn) Freer of Fairview, NC 15 Grandchildren, 7 Step Grandchildren, 23 Great Grandchildren, and 4 Step Grandchildren two sisters: Shirley (John) Dicello of Timonium, MD and Patricia (Terry) Heally of Erie, PA one brother: Robert Rodgers of Bradford, PA, and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Peter Freer in 1976, 2 brothers and 3 sisters. Visitation will be held on Thursday, Jan. 10, from 2-4 and 6-8 P.M. at Hartle-Tarbox Funeral Homes, Inc., 2 Bank St. Smethport, PA. A Mass of Christian Burial will be said on Friday, Jan. 11, at 10 A.M., in St. Elizabeth Church, Smethport, with the Rev. Vincent P. Cieslewicz, pastor as Celebrant, officiating. Burial will be in St. Elizabeth Cemetery, Smethport. A Christian Wake service will be conducted in the funeral home Thursday at 3:30 P.M.
