Obituary of Florence C. Ladlee

Smethport - Florence C. Ladlee, 97, of Smethport, died Sunday (October 10, 2010) in the Sena Kean Manor, Smethport. She was born July 8, 1913 in New York City, a daughter of Michael and Daisey Griffiths Fedor. On July 10, 1931, in Fort Jay, NY, on Governors Island, she married Roland R. Ladlee, who died March 9, 2002. They were married 71 years. Mrs. Ladlee attended New York City schools and was employed at Stone's Manor, now Lakeview Senior Care and Living Center, of Smethport, and also at Backus Co. of Smethport. She ultimately was a homemaker tending to the needs of her family. She was a member of the Free Christian Evangelical Church, Smethport, and the Smethport Senior Center. She is survived by two daughters: Loretta (James) Winston of Melbourne, FL, Harriet (Allen) Claxton of Satellite Beach, FL two sons: R. James (Laura) Ladlee of Smethport, PA, Donald (Vicki Dunnavant) Ladlee of Melbourne, FL 17 Grandchildren, 30 Great Grandchildren, 7 Great Great Grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by 1 son; William Ladlee, 3 daughters; Patricia Causer, Diana Snyder, and Nora Ladlee, 2 grandchildren; Kim Ladlee and Paula Ladlee Hess Cross, and 3 sisters. Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 2-4 and 6-8 P.M. at Hartle-Tarbox Funeral Homes, Inc., 2 Bank St., Smethport, PA, where funeral and committal services will be held on Thursday, Oct. 14, at 11 A.M., with the Rev. Max Simms, Pastor of the Hilltop Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Norwich Cemetery, Colegrove.
