Obituary of Jack H. Peterson
Smethport - Jack H. Peterson, 91, of Erie, passed away Thursday (August 22, 2024) at St. Vincent Hospital, Erie.
He was born February 15, 1933 in Clermont, PA, the son of Floyd and Ethyle (Lovell) Peterson. On December 6, 1975, in Smethport, he married Lois M. Hicks, who died April 2, 2010.
Jack served in the U.S. Army during the Korean conflict.
He was employed by Continental Can Company until they closed and then he worked for GAF in machine maintenance until his retirment.
He enjoyed spending time with his family and camping. He loved coming to his camp in McKean County.
He is survived by:
Three daughters: Patricia A. Coleman of Belmont, NY, Wendy L. (James) Gonzales of Erie, and Sharon M. (Kevin) Pire of Bradford
Two sons: Jack H. Peterson, Jr. and Timothy D. Peterson, both of Bradford
One step daughter: LaWanda D. (Noah) Knauer of Port Allegany
One step son: Donald R. Studor of Erie
Numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a son, Brian Peterson, and one brother.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday from Noon to 1 PM at Hartle-Tarbox Funeral Homes, Inc., 2 Bank St., Smethport, where funeral services will begin at 1 PM, with the Rev. Max Simms, pastor of the Hilltop Baptist Church, officiating. Military Honors will be accorded by the American Legion; Bucktail Post #138. Burial will be in Clermont Cemetery.
