Danny was the brother of my late husband Dennis. Danny was a very supportive brother-in-law after losing Dennis to cancer. These past 2½ years that I’ve gotten to know Danny, I was blessed to get to know him and I loved him like a brother. He was well-grounded, caring, smart, and without a doubt loved his brothers unconditionally. He was there for Dennis’s funeral (he drove from PA to NC), and came to 2 of 3 FDNY memorials for Dennis. Danny would have been at the IAFF memorial in Colorado Springs last September, if he could, but he was very sick by then. I remember having a conversation with Danny regarding this and his exact words were, “but I have to be there.” I told him, no Danny, you have to take care of yourself now, and I pretty much broke down then because no matter how crappy he was feeling at the time, he still wanted to come to Dennis’s memorial. Danny was an honorable man of deep Christian faith, soft spoken, humble, and loved his family very much (and dog Ursa). RIP Brother Dan. You are at peace now with the angels, and I’m sure Brothers Dennis & Ray are showing you around the pearly gates of Heaven. My heart and prayers are with Fran and the family.

Twenty years living across the street, no better neighbors than Dan and Fran, always ready to lend a hand— like helping with the concrete pour for a backyard screen house. And an absolute genius for thinking outside the box. A life well lived in the deepest Christian spirit. Joe and Eileen Ficara
