Lee Howard was one of the nicest and kindest person that I have met. He was also one of my best customers that I had. He was always out talking to me when I was there working. He will truly be missed and is still hard to think he is gone. You will never be forgotten.

I fondly recall many meetings with Lee Howard -- often at Barnes and Noble, but also on the SHU campus and at conferences. We'd talk all things horror, all things spirit, all things writing. As a relatively quiet and seemingly introverted fellow, he lived a full active life and he did so boldly, and I was one of his biggest admirers. He was always surprising me, and quick to share his trademark grin. He was an avid researcher and took notes more copiously than any of the students I've ever worked with. He was entrepreneurial at every level, and took many risks in his life that paid off in his own happiness, and I admired his iconoclastic approach to life. He loved to write, and his writing was always ambitiously strange, which I enjoyed. Although I was formally one of his "mentors" early on in his graduate work in Writing Popular Fiction, we were of similar ages and the same dispensation and I always thought of him as a kindred spirit, and a colleague. He published some of us in his small press book line, which he meticulously and professionally edited (the anthology Thou Shalt Not is a classic, and should be read by all). I am shocked and saddened by his loss. The horror genre has lost such a promising talent and strong voice, and the world has lost one of the rare good ones who sometimes grace this planet with their presence. You will be missed, Lee. Thank you for trusting me with a small part of your education. I think everyone who knew you learned something from you.

I was shocked and saddened to hear the news about Lee. Our paths first crossed while we were in the WPF program at Seton Hill. After we graduated, we used to spend some time talking at the IYWM conferences. Rest in peace, my friend.

I had the pleasure of meeting Lee while we were both enrolled in the masters program at SHU. He was incredibly kind and supportive and a brilliant writer. When I was going through cancer treatment nine years ago, he always sent thoughtful comments of strength. I know how strong he was through this battle, and he will forever be remembered as an amazing person. I'll never forget you my friend.

Sending my condolences to everyone that loved Lee.
We last crossed paths at Stokercon this year. He was friendly and kind, eager to share any insights he had with fellow writers. We often complimented each other on our horror t-shirts at residency. A gem of a human.

Lee was one of the kindest people I have met along my writing journey. I had a chance to see Lee at StokerCon here in Pittsburgh this summer. I wish I had made more time to catch up with him then. At least I got hug. I am heartbroken that he is gone. Sending love your way.
