Obituary of Shirley Frances Crone

Smethport - Shirley Frances Palmatier Crone, 96, life long resident of Eldred, passed away Thursday (October 19, 2023) at Sena Kean Manor, Smethport.

 

She was born April 9, 1927 in Betula, PA, the daughter of Roy Palmatier and Ina Stiles Palmatier Ford. On December 12, 1957, in Eldred, PA, she married Mark Crone, who died October 8, 2004.

 

Shirley was a graduate of Eldred High School and was the dental assistant for Dr. John Welch, DDS in Eldred for many, many years. 

 

Shirley enjoyed bowling, golf, and most of all, snowmobiling.  She had an abundance of friends and loved by everyone.  She will be most remembered by many in her crisp white uniform at Dr. Welch’s office, with her beautiful smile and tender demeanor.

 

She is survived by:

one daughter: Tamara (Bradley) Crone Mason of Smethport

grandchildren: Bethany (Aaron) Frame and Victoria Mason

great grandchildren: Kai and Mia Thomas, Zoe Frame, Carter, Ryan and Nolan Mason

and several nieces and nephews

 

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Roger Woodruff in 1963; three brothers, Glenn L. and Donald E. Palmatier and Harley E. Ford; three sisters, Margery Harvey, Thelma Welch and Ann Ford Welch.

 

Visitation will be held on Monday, October 23, 2023, in the Hartle-Tarbox Funeral Homes, Inc., 2 Bank St., Smethport, from 1-3PM and 5-7PM, at which time funeral services will be held at 7PM in the funeral home, with the Rev. Bruce Kumher, Chaplain of PA State Police Troop C Lewis Run, PA and pastor of First Baptist Church of Kane, PA, officiating. Burial will be in the Lamphier Cemetery, Eldred.
