Obituary of Harold R. Johnston

Smethport, PA – Harold Johnston, 86, of Crosby, PA passed away Wednesday, July 7, 2021 at Penn Highlands Elk hospital, St. Mary, PA

Born December 1, 1934 in Wellsville, NY, he was the son of Hollis Johnston and Ella Kliemann Johnston. He was married to Connie K Greene, who proceeded him in death in 2000.

Harold was a graduate of Olean High School and served in the US Navy. He began his career at Corning Glass Works and retired from Boldt Machinery of Erie, PA.  He enjoyed fishing, hunting and playing golf. 

He is survived by his daughters, Lori (John) Ross of Bradford, Shari Hobbs (Konstantinos Kananis) of Watkins Glen, NY, Julie (John) Hinz of Sugar Land, TX, and Kari Johnston of Bradford; seven grandchildren, nine great grandchildren; brother Phillip (MaryAnn) Johnston of Maryland; and several beloved nieces and nephew; and exchange students Roberto and Rodrigo Martinez. Harold was preceded in death by his parents and step father (Wayne Turner) as well as his wife.

Friends and family are invited to attend a memorial service on Saturday, July 17 at 11 a.m. at St. Luke's Episcopal Church, Smethport.  Burial will follow in Grimes Cemetery, Port Allegany.  Military Honors will be accorded by the American Legion; Bucktail Post #138 of Smethport. A luncheon will follow at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church.
