Obituary of David Edward Knapp
Smethport - David Edward Knapp, 56, of Smethport, passed away unexpectedly, Wednesday (April 14, 2021).
He was born December 28, 1964 in Olean, NY, the son of Richard and Betty Berg Knapp.
Mr. Knapp was a graduate of Port Allegany High School and served in the U.S. Army.
Dave was a machine operator employed at Ardagh Company of Port Allegany. He was the president of the company’s local union, United Steel Workers Union Local #75M.
Dave enjoyed playing in Softball, Dart and Pool Leagues over the years. He loved hunting, camping, kayaking and spending time in the outdoors. He was a member of the VFW Post #2497 of Smethport.
In addition to his mother, Betty Knapp of Crosby, he is survived by:
Four sons: Alex R. Knapp, Andrew D. Knapp, Hayden C. Knapp and Evan J. Knapp, all of Smethport
One daughter: Tyler R. Knapp of Gifford
One granddaughter: Evelynn
Two brothers: Dorwin (Cindy) Knapp of Port Allegany and Ronald (Laurie) Knapp of Eldred
One sister: Cheryl Barber of Crosby
And many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by one grandson, Avery M. Shavalier, and one brother, Richard Knapp.
Visitation will be held on Sunday from 2-4 and 6-8 PM at Hartle-Tarbox Funeral Homes, Inc., 105 Main St., Port Allegany. Funeral services will be held on Monday, April 19 at 11AM from the Hilltop Baptist Church, Gifford, with the Rev. Max Simms, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, Port Allegany.
