Obituary of Leah M. Hazlett

Smethport - Leah M. Hazlett, 79, of Smethport, passed away on Wednesday (January 13, 2021) at her residence in Smethport.

 

She was born March 6, 1941 in Clarington, PA, a daughter of Russell and Vera Rex Motter.  On April 18, 1959, in the United Methodist Church of Clarington, PA, she married Cork Hazlett, who preceded her in death. 

 

Mrs. Hazlett worked as a nutritionist and head cook for Indiana County Headstart prior to her retirement.

 

She was a member of the Bradford TOPS Club, Red Hats, and the Smethport Garden Club.

 

She is survived by:

 

Two sons:  David (Sue) Hazlett and Ron (Deb) Scott

 

Four daughters:  Cathy (Mike) Lawson, Rhonda (Bob) Coccimiglio, Kristy (Danielle Dahlberg) Hazlett, and Danielle (Ken Figard) Hazlett

 

22 Grandchildren, 41 Great-Grandchildren

 

One brother: John Motter

 

Four sisters:  Bernice (Jim) McCullough, Phyllis (Ken) Clark, Diane (Lou) Enott, and Sue (Rick) Knutson

 

And many nieces and nephews

 

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two grandchildren, Chelsea and Lori.

 

Due to COVID-19 restrictions, a graveside burial will be held on Saturday, January 16, at 11 AM in St. Elizabeth Cemetery, Smethport.  A celebration of Leah’s life will be held at a later date to be announced.
