Obituary of Shirley L. Putt
Smethport - Shirley L. Putt, 68, of Portville, NY, passed away Friday (September 28, 2018) in the Olean General Hospital, Olean.
She was born Sept. 19, 1950 in Kane, PA, a daughter of Clement “Bob”and Jolin Parker Alderfer.
She was a 1968 graduate of Smethport Area High School and graduated from Olean Business Institute in 1969.
Shirley was employed by the USAF at the Pentagon in Washington, D.C. She then worked at BOCES in Olean, NY for over 30 years, retiring in June 2007. She also had worked for the Census Bureau and at the McKean County Raceway in Smethport.
Shirley was an avid racecar fan. She also loved traveling with friends.
She is survived by:
sons: Matthew Putt and William Putt, both of Portville, NY
grandchildren: Skylar and Kaleb Putt, both of Portville, NY
half-brothers: Tom Gleason of Smethport, PA and Tracy Gleason of Oxford, PA
half-sisters: Lori Gleason of Smethport, PA and Lisa McMurray of Coalport, PA
and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Timothy Alderfer, and a half-brother, Terry Gleason. .
A celebration of Shirley's life will be held on Saturday, Oct. 6th, 2018, from noon to 4 PM at the Kardinal Room on Main St., Smethport, PA. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery, Smethport.
