We will all miss our sweet Althea so much. I have many wonderful memories of growing up and spending summers with Althea, Aunt Bernie, and Peggy. Although she was a little older than us, she always included us in things, and we spent many wonderful hours together. As we grew and had our own families, we still remained close, and tried to see each other as often as time and distance would allow. I treasure the times we came and stayed with her, with my oldest granddaughter, Savannah, and how much Althea enjoyed that and doted on her. It warmed her heart to have a little one around, and Savannah took to her loving ways and kindness immediately, creating a bond that I know Althea cherished. I will miss her so much, and like Maureen, feel very blessed to have had her sweet soul in my life.

It's been an honor to know and love my dear, sweet cousin Althea. She was more like a sister...she was intelligent, loving and feisty! (just like her mom, my Aunt Bernie and my mom, Rena). Her funeral although sad, was like a family reunion. (and everyone was dressed up!) Of course the person we missed was Althea herself...but she was in each and every one of our hearts. She had a sweet and gentle way of connecting with us all and that "heart" connection can never be broken. I have a lifetime of memories to cherish and am truly blessed to have had Althea in my life. Until we meet again sweet Althea...dance with the angels! (for I know how you loved to dance!)

What a loss to Althea's family and friends--and to the community and the causes she supported so energetically! I was moved and impressed by her tireless efforts on behalf of those in the military, veterans, and respect for the memories of deceased military and their families. She volunteered for Meals On Wheels, helped with fund raisers for other organizations, was a part of the Fifty-Plus Club. And always she was a bright spot in the room. I will often hear her telephone sign-off, a very soft "Bye, now"-- short for "Goodbye for now." Wait for us in peace and comfort, dear friend. Bye, now.
